Being careful, he checks his calculations: interestingly using an electro-mechanical calculator, of the type that, way back in the sixties, we found (almost) endless amusement from by setting up to divide 99999... by 1 and then unplugging from the wall, so that the next poor sap to use it would have to plug in and then wait for ages whilst it chugged away noisly calculating the result of 99999...
However this could back-fire if we had forgotten that we had to use the damn thing next. (Ah! Happy days!) |
